A Tree Day Celebration at Carrboro Elementary School

Third grade students celebrated trees last Thursday with Carrboro Mayor, Lydia Lavelle!
Students learned about trees from arborist, Kelly Blair.  We even were visited by Smokey the Bear!

Students participated in a poster contest.  Students created posters about the importance of trees.  All the posters were beautiful and really showed creativity and knowledge about the importance of trees in our environment.  Judges selected the three top posters to be displayed at Town Hall.  The posters selected belonged to:
Sofia V. from Room 207
Rachel G. from Room 207
Porter B. from Room 302

Later, we worked together to plant an apple tree on the school grounds.
Come and take a look at it sometime!
